Description:
This is an up close, partial view of a tapestry of Barack
Obama's face. The tapestry was made by artist Chuck Close in 2012. This is one
of two large tapestries of Obama's face that are displayed side-by-side. One of
the tapestries shows a smiling Obama, the other has Obama in a serious,
no-smile state. A photograph of both tapestries precedes this one in my gallery
and can be accessed by clicking on the above "Prev" (for
"Previous"). The tapestries were photographed at the Smithsonian's
National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.

Barack Obama's Winning Faces
These are two large tapestries of
Barack Obama that were made by artist Chuck Close in 2012. Close has been a
famous artist for decades, and is known for his large-scale heads. These two
portrayals of Obama reflect both his serious and intellectual demeanor, and his
affable personality and infectious smile. He could never have become President
of the United States without having both of these faces, which Close
brilliantly captured in these larger-than-life images. The tapestries were
