About Mahto:

Mahto Hogue was born and raised in Texas but has always admired the colors and ambiance of the Southwest, especially Native Americans and their home style and customs.

He has been interested and involved in art since an early age.

He is a self taught artist, studying color, composition and anatomy. He is inspired by the Old Masters and the Modern Masters, (Norman Rockwell, Andrew Wyeth and Daniel Greene). He also was a commercial artist illustrator.

Mahto visited the 4 Corners area in the late 1980's and fell in love with the area. He has retired, done some traveling, especially the 4 Corners area and has now settled in Rhome, Texas, to pursue his art career.

Medias include acrylics, oil, pastels, charcoals and pen and ink. He favors the oils because he achieves the perfection of the colors he desires, to accomplish the reality of the subject, which shows in all of his art works.

In December, 2014, Mahto will have paintings dispayed at the FORT WORTH COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER, Ft. Worth, TX. Mahto hopes you will come by, see and shop.

Currently (August/September) he has paintings on display/for sale at the Bedford boys Ranch, at the Trinity Arts Gallery in Bedford Tx.

Mahto is now teaching group and private art classes, in Bedford TX and Rhome TX.

Mahto is searching for a gallery to display and sell his paintings, and possibly an art broker. He is also accepting commissions.

He has done numerous commissions of people, pets and vehicles, and when not doing commissions, he concentrates on what he enjoys most, and that is the Native Americans and their home styles. His work shows his dedication, discipline and execution to Fine Art.
